Abstract

Trans Metro Bandung (TMB) is a mass transportation mode that was built as an alternative solution to Bandung traffic jam. The government felt that the TMB is the best transportation mode in order to solve traffic jam and pollution problem in Bandung city. Unfortunately TMB also became a source of conflict especially with the existing public transportation companies. This research purpose a combination of Graph Model for Conflict Resolution (GMCR) and value net of coopetition to analyze this conflict. Based on this analysis, possible steps in order to solve this conflict can be purposed.

Abstract

According to Indonesian Republic Law No.32 2004, each local government has an obligation to design a high school student selection system that is suitable to be implemented in their region. Unfortunately, student selection systems that are currently implemented still cannot produce the expected result. We construct an agent-based model that mimic the student selection process in Bandung. By conducting experiments using this model, the limitations of current student selection system are identified and modification is suggested. By observing agent‘s success rate in this model, we also able to identify the best strategy for agent in order to be qualified in the school of their choice under different kind of system.

Agent Based Model of High School Student Selection System in Bandung, Indonesia

Unpublished master thesis

Abstract

This Master degree thesis report discusses the development process of agentbased simulation for high school student selection system in the city of Bandung. Development of this simulation is motivated by the existence of schools which have lack of students on the other hand; there are many students who were rejected because the schools to which they enroll have lack of space. This simulation includes modeling of the applicant’s decision-making process in selecting school and, the interaction among the applicants in the exchanging information about the schools attributes. This simulation aims to explore the dynamics in the student selection system and, examining the impact of the applicant types proportion, the completeness of information possessed by the applicants and the number of clusters used to the enrollment distribution and the number of student deficit in each cluster. By conducting virtual experiments using this simulation model several suggestions to improvements to the student selection system that is currently applied can be made. In addition, the type of applicant that success more often is also able to be identified through these virtual experiments.
